Raised on a farm in Nebraska, Ethel was the first in her family to attend college, graduating from the area Teacher's College in the 1930s.
Ethel moved to the Chicago area, where she met and married Fred. Yes, they were the original Fred and Ethel!
Ethel taught young children for 22 years. She had great patience with her two sons and three grandsons. She had all the good classic books for children in her personal "library".
Visiting Grandma was always a treat. Ethel served classic, hearty food, sharing the prep with Fred. During summer visits, dinner was planned around the Chicago Cubs schedule, as Ethel was an avid fan.
