This is a simplified version of the famous Cuban sandwich
Use the best ingredients and you’ll find this to be irresistible, warm and crunchy

½ c Dijon mustard
½ c finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
24 slices white sandwich bread
24 slices gruyere cheese
12 thick slices baked ham
2 sticks unsalted butter
- Combine the mustard and parsley in a bowl. Lay out 12 slices of bread. On each slice, spread a layer of the mustard-parsley paste, followed by a slice of cheese, ham, a second slice of cheese and top with a slice of bread.
- Melt the butter over medium heat. Using a pastry brush, coat both sides of the sandwiches with butter.
- Grill sandwiches until the bread turns golden brown and the cheese is melted, 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Cut into quarters and serve.
