Cream butter and sugar.  
Mix in egg yolk and extract.  Add flour, cornflakes, and cherry chips. 
Roll into 1" balls.  Place on ungreased cookie sheet and press with fork both ways.  Sprinkle with sugar. 
Bake in 375 degree oven for 12 - 15 Min.   Cool on rack.
